Meet Tori Filas

Founder & Author

Tori Filas brings more than two decades of classroom experience to her work in financial literacy. As an elementary school teacher, she developed a deep understanding of how children learn, what captures their attention, and how to make complex ideas accessible.

Her transition into financial education outreach expanded that impact, allowing her to work directly with schools, educators and communities. She saw firsthand how powerful early financial education could be-and how limited the available resources were.

Determined to fill the gap, Tori began creating her own materials, starting with children’s books that introduce financial concepts through relatable stories. What began as a single idea has grown into a broader platform through Penny Power LearningTM.

Today, Tori is a nationally-recognized, trusted voice in youth financial literacy and partners with educators, financial institutions and organizations across the United States, delivering curriculum, workshops and resources that make financial education for K-5 students both accessible and impactful.

Penny Power Learning™ by Tori Filas was founded in 2024 to address a simple but critical problem: children are not taught how money works early enough in their lives.

Too often, financial literacy is introduced too late—after habits have already formed. Bny focusing on elementary-aged children (K-5), Penny Power Learning helps build a strong foundation early, when it has the greatest long-term impact.

Through a proven platform that combines storytelling, curriculum and real-world application, children learn key concepts in ways that are both meaningful and memorable. Children also develop confidence along with the ability to make sound financial decisions, understand consequences and take ownership of their financial future
